VISION DIAGNOSTIC STUDY
Vision Diagnostic Study is performed to capture the Business & IT Delivery Organization’s vision and the AS-IS state of QA/Testing with respect to a set of 10 value statements. The value statements have been derived keeping the view the cost to quality in the current AS-IS and the future vision of the organization. Each value statement is mapped to an attribute, such as FLEXIBILITY, PREDICTABILITY & CONSISTENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY, RELIABILITY, QUALITY, REPEATABILITY & CONTROL, VISIBILITY, SCALABILITY, EFFICIENCY and REUSABILITY.
Targeted Audience:
Since the purpose of the study is to understand Organization vision and current state, it is critical to have Senior Management/Executive team participation. The intended participants here are CTO’s, IT Director/s and Business Sponsors.
Study approach:
The study is done in 3 easy steps and can be completed in 15-20 minutes.
Step One
How to do this?
Rank the value statements by marking” X” in the appropriate cell using the following scale,
- We must be best-in-class at this: This is a critical area of focus
- We should do well at this: This is important but not as critical
- Good to have. Good performance here is a bonus

Step Two
The participant rates the organization's current performance/ as-is state for each of the value statements.
How to do this?
Rating of the current performance with respect to the value statements is done based on the scale mentioned below ( 2-5)
- We are excellent at this - 5
- We are good - 4
- We are average -3
- We are below average -2
Select the appropriate rating for each value statement by highlighting the pre-defined value in the cell.

Vision Diagnostic Study Outcome
The data collected during the vision diagnosis, is analyzed and prioritization is implemented keeping in view the vision cost to quality and the current AS-IS state.
The prioritization is distributed as P1, P2 and P3; the P1 & P2 items are deemed to be more important for the organization and the approach for subsequent Assessment is structured to focus on these priorities.
